An important regional shopping centre, Cheltenham is home to a good selection of department stores and indoor malls. When it comes to shopping, Cheltenham will far from disappoint and with literally hundreds of shops to explore, the town has plenty to keep shoppers more than occupied for days.

Cheltenham's oldest department store is Cavendish House, which was founded almost 200 years ago, in 1823, and is to be found along the Promenade. Cavendish House is a particularly notable shopping highlight in the town and has been part of the House of Fraser group since the early seventies.

The westerly Montpellier area of Cheltenham is where some of the town's most popular shops are located, with stores and boutiques opening out onto the street and being grouped as a small arcade, close to the Rotunda building.

Nearby, and off the Promenade, the High Street contains a further large cluster of shops, although these do tend to be more commercialised, with large chain stores and plenty of fashion boutiques and similar outlets.

For shopping malls, Cheltenham's very own Regent Arcade is amongst the best and resides in the heart of the town, next to Regent Street. With more than 60 shops and brands, together with a number of restaurants and 500 parking spaces, Regent Arcade is regarded as the premier shopping centre in the whole of the Cotswolds.

The easterly Beechwood Shopping Centre is also popular, although a little smaller in size, while for something a little more traditional in Cheltenham, look out for the regular bi-monthly farmers' market at the Promenade's Long Gardens.
